Smallcase
Reducing investment drop-off in Smallcase's app through a scoped 2-day audit.

- Product Designer

- Perplexity, Figma
Objective
To analyze the Smallcase investment app and identify user experience gaps and redesigned a critical user flow to reduce drop-offs and improve conversion rates.
Problems Identified
I identified several pain points through the appstore and playstore reviews which I then categorized into out of scope, partially addressed, or directly tackled through the design.
- Out-of-scope problems
- Considered & incorporated
- Main problem addressed
Persona
To better understand the users, I developed two key personas based on secondary research. These personas helped me explore targeted solutions for the problems identified.
What I found
As part of redesign, I looked at how users invest in smallcases. The steps made sense, but I felt that the screens had conversion barriers that could lead to drop offs in the journey.
What was redesigned:
- Smallcase Detail Page
- Investment Modal
Smallcase Detail Page
Based on my research, I redesigned the detail page using the app's existing visual style and added helpful links to important information.
I focused on solutions that could be built quickly without creating entirely new features or pages. This made the improvements practical and realistic to implement.
Investment Modal
When you click 'Invest Now' a popup opens with the investment form. I found that the important parts could be arranged better to help users make decisions quickly, especially with the timer given for that session.
Key Takeaways
This project was an interesting design sprint that taught me how small changes can make a big impact on user experience.
Working with systems
It helped me understand how to work within the boundaries of an existing design system, which helps ship designs faster.
Small changes big Impact
I found that not every problem needs big changes. Small, high-impact, low-effort solutions can hugely improve how people experience the app.
